Jesse Colin Young recently collaborated with the legendary Steve Miller on a new version “Get Together” in celebration of the song’s 50th Anniversary of The Youngbloods’ version hitting #1 on the Billboard charts. Jesse joins us today to discuss his incredible career, as well as his recent solo album “Dreamers”.
About Jesse Colin Young
A pioneer of American roots music for more than half a century, Jesse Colin Young has left a unique mark on the intersecting worlds of folk, blues, jazz, country, and rock & roll.
As the frontman of the Youngbloods, he immortalized the ideals of the Woodstock generation with “Get Together,” an international hit that called for peace and brotherhood during the turbulent 1960s. During the decades that followed, Young expanded both his audience and his artistic range, releasing a string of solo albums that mixed socially-conscious lyrics with top-tier guitar skills and gorgeous vocals. An acclaimed songwriter, singer, instrumentalist, producer, label owner, podcast host, and longtime social/environmental activist, he has established a permanent place in America’s musical landscape, while continuing to make modern music that’s every bit as vital as his work during the countercultural era.
Jesse’s Coffee Farm
Located 2000 feet up the slope of the 8000 foot Hualalai Mountain Volcano in the heart of the Kona Coffee Belt, lies Jesse and Connie Young’s 6 acre coffee farm. Certified organic by International Certification Services, and shade grown in an old Macadamia nut orchard, this coffee is rich in lipids and vanilla notes. The coffee beans are hand picked in the fall until January approximately every 2 weeks so that only the ripe beans are picked and processed. This ensures their coffee never tastes bitter. They process and roast their coffee with certified organic local processors and only roast small batches to guarantee its freshness. Their coffee beans are roasted Vienna / Full City Roast which is darker than Medium Roast but not as dark as French Roast. It’s delicious and can be ordered via their website.
