Doug E Doug (Douglas Bourne) has an incredible 30-year career as an actor, comedian, director, producer, and a writer. He is well-known to movie viewers for his starring role as Jamaican bobsledder “Sanka Coffie” in the movie Cool Runnings. Doug recently released his first book, called “The Fall of ’87: A Dope Novel”, a stand-alone mystery about a young black man in Brooklyn who embarks on a spiritual odyssey to solve a murder.

Doug E Doug was born in Brooklyn, New York and started off his career as a stand-up comic at the age of 17. He was seen first at the Apollo Theater by Russell Simmons, who asked Doug to write & host The New Music Report. Spike Lee also discovered Doug at the Apollo and included him in his film Mo’ Better Blues, a musical comedy with Denzel Washington & Wesley Snipes.

Early in Doug’s career he worked as a summer school English teacher and writing coach, so he used these skills recently to write his new (& first) book, “The Fall of ’87: A Dope Novel”.
